Led by the acting President of NUGA, Dr Mohammed Bawa, the delegation was in UNILAG as part of preparation for the forthcoming 11th All African University Games (FASU), slated for September 20 to 29, 2024.

Addressing the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, said UNILAG is working hand in hand with the co-host, the Lagos State University (LASU) with a view to ensuring a successful outing.

Prof. Ogunsola said UNILAG is leveraging the experience and many success stories recorded during the 26th NUGA Games, and assured of readiness to exceed expectations when the competition kicks off in September 2024.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the acting President of NUGA, Dr Mohammed Bawa applauded the UNILAG Management for its commitment towards making the 11th FASU Games a success. He said “the delegation is in UNILAG to assess the level of preparedness”.

While passing a vote of confidence in the capacity of UNILAG to repeat the feat recorded during the last NUGA outing, Dr. Bawa appealed to all stakeholders to support the host institutions with a view to giving the 11th FASU Games all the colours it deserves.

After the meeting with the UNILAG Management, the delegation moved to the NUGA Secretariat located at the UNILAG Sports Complex where it met with Heads of Committees and got updates on the level of preparedness. The FASU-NUGA delegation also had an opportunity for an on-the-spot assessment of existing sports facilities.

The 11th All African University Games (FASU) being co-hosted by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Lagos State University (LASU) is the second to be hosted in Nigeria after the 2004 edition which held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State.
