FASU Games 2024: Prof Ogunsola says “UNILAG is on Course”

Management of the University of Lagos says it is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the fast-approaching 11thFederation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games is successful.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, made this known on Thursday, August 15, 2024, while receiving Officials of FASU who were in UNILAG for a facility tour.

Prof Ogunsola who met with the visiting FASU officials in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room on the 10th floor of the UNILAG Senate House, assured that the university is already meeting with stakeholders and partners to ensure easy passages for international athletes and their officials while sporting facilities are also being worked on to meet and surpass the expectations of athletes.

While identifying scarcity of resources as a major challenge, the Vice-Chancellor noted that within the next 2 weeks, most of the arrangements being put in place by the University would be more visible for all eyes to see and appreciate.

In their remarks, the acting President of NUGA, Dr. Mohammed Bawa; the FASU Secretary General, Dr. Kabenge Aligawesa Peninnah and President, West Africa University Sports Federation (WAUSF), Mr. Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko appreciated the management of UNILAG for the enthusiasm, quality of efforts and level of preparedness which have gone into preparations for the continental sports fiesta.

The FASU delegation noted that the 27th NUGA slated for October this year has been canceled to give room for full preparation and participation at the 11th FASU Games which is being co-hosted by the University of Lagos and the Lagos State University (LASU).

The 11th Federation of African Universities’ Sports (FASU) Games also tagged LAGOS 2024 is slated to hold fromFridaySeptember 20 to Saturday, September 29, 2024.
